Designing creative teaching and learning experiences for collaboration, exchange and experimentation
After completing a bachelor’s degree in Literature and Art at Newcastle University in the UK, Sophie Foster worked as a contemporary visual artist and art educator in the field of lifelong learning. In 2016, she was accepted for the master’s programme “Public Art and New Artistic Strategies” under Prof. Danica Dakić at Bauhaus Universität, Weimar. From there, she has exhibited throughout Europe and her work evolved into socially engaged, material-based artistic practices, designing creative teaching and learning experiences for collaboration, exchange and experimentation. She has also lectured at various universities across the UK and Germany, designing and implementing courses that are grounded in her own artistic practice. From 2021 to 2024 she worked as an Educational Technologist for the project Lernraum.Bauhaus, part of Institutional Development at Bauhaus Universität, Weimar. Here, she coordinated the sub-project Lernen am Objekt which focused on the transfer of objects in hybrid settings. In 2025 she became a member of Studio Wägetechnik e.V. where she continues to develop her artistic practice.
